CARE OF THE AGED AT MARAYONG

In 2004 the Sisters together with the Board of Directors of Holy Family Services developed a vision for the development of Aged Care at Marayong.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide, in conjunction with our residents and their families, the children and their parents, a quality care service.

This service will be based on Christian values in the Catholic Tradition.

Hospitality, love and acceptance will form the cornerstone of Holy Family Services.

However as the Mission of the Congregation is the family and not just one national group, Holy Family Services looks forward to embracing all members of the community. Our 50 year experience of providing care and support to one ethnic group has given us an insight in how to deliver quality care. Australia apart from its original indigenious population, is made up of immigrants from all over the world, who have chosen Australia as their home. In this we have all come from somewhere else. As such we place great importance on each persons cultural and ethnic background - be it traditional aussie, european migrant or asian background.

Our Christian European traditions mean we place great importance on the various celebrations of life and family. In this if you come to Holy Family Services you become one of the family and we welcome you.

Retirement Village - Independent Living (Self Care)

Blessed Frances Siedliska Retirement Village provides fully independent accommodation in self-contained duplex units.

Residents in this area of our accommodation services are able to look after themselves without any need for personal care or support although emergency assistance is available if required. Self-Care is another term to describe fully independent living. This Self-Care accommodation allows residents to live exactly as they would in their own homes out in the general community. Care and support can be provided to residents as required.

The new 3 bedbroom cottages (16 cottages) - $390,000

The 2 bedroom cottages (10 cottages) - $320,000

The 1 bedroom cottages (2 cottages) - $300,000

Financial Issues

As you are all aware Aged Care is a financial challenge to the Federal Government. Their policy response has been to increasingly make Aged Care a user pay system. This is particularly so in the matter of capital funding. Simply put, the Federal Government does not provide capital funds to organisations for building new facilities. It is expected that those who use residential Aged Care and own their own home will pay an entry contribution or bond. This is essentially an interest free loan to the organisation with the bulk of the money refunded.

It is important to also realise that the government is changing its deeming policy to enable the bond amount to be EXCLUDED from such deeming so that people can retain their pension entitlements.

As such the Board is still exploring the amount of the Bond which obviously is going to be influenced by the ultimate cost of the project. We should clarify that not all incoming residents will be expected to pay this bond. For further information in this very complicated government policy area please contact the Department of Health and Ageing or any related aged care websites. We hope to provide information on the size of the bonds after the quantity surveyor has costed the plans for the new building.

As you can see, we are fully committed to providing quality care to the Aged today and into the future.
